During the Nintendo Treehouse Live at E3 2019, Nintendo revealed a few new details on the multiplayer aspects of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

First, Nintendo revealed that it’s possible to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on multiple single Joy-Con with others on the same system. The other players need to be a resident of the same island in order to do that.

Next, the company confirmed that local multiplayer and online multiplayer with other Nintendo Switch consoles is possible. They also reconfirmed that up to 8 players could play together on the same island at the same time.
