Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the first mainline Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch, was initially scheduled to launch in 2019. But as you probably already know it was delayed to March 20, 2020 at E3.
In an IGN interview with Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser, Bowser revealed that as a company, Nintendo doesn’t want their employees to suffer from crunch. Crunch, or mandatory overtime, has been a huge issue in the video game industry as many developers sacrifice their work-life balance to get projects completed on time.
Here are his full comments:
“The crunch point is an interesting one. For us, one of our key tenets is that we bring smiles to people’s faces, and we talk about that all the time. It’s our vision. Or our mission, I should say. For us, that applies to our own employees. We need to make sure that our employees have good work-life balance.”
