Animal Crossing: New Horizons Datamine May Point To The Dream Suite Making A Return

Dataminer Ninji, who has been digging through the code of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has noticed another intriguing tidbit – one that might point toward a fan-favorite feature from the past making a return!

In particular, some new command blocks added in Version 1.2.0 appear to be related to packaging players’ data (i.e. their villagers, island hemisphere, etc.) and possibly uploading/downloading this data via an actor titled ‘ActorNetDreamLand’.

For fans who’ve played Animal Crossing: New Leaf (on the 3DS), this may seem wildly reminiscent of that game’s Dream Suite feature, which also allowed players to upload a suspended version of their town to an online server. Other players can then visit this suspended version of the town via a Dream Address code.

Simply put, the addition of such similar functions in New Horizons’ code could mean Nintendo is preparing to bring back the Dream Suite (or something similar). Here is the full speculation by Ninji, based on his findings:

Of course, it bears repeating that this is all speculation based on the datamine for now. It’s also possible that Nintendo might be preparing something else completely different with this data, or maybe nothing at all.

We’ll report back if we hear any new developments about this in the future. Stay tuned.
