Dengeki Online has published a new update about Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ sales figures in Japan.
According to the publications’ figures, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold around 1,831,859 copies in Japan for its first week, which is a whopping 90% of its initial stock. In other words, its selling much higher than Nintendo expected. Notably this only counts physical sales, and with the addition of digital these figures are likely to be much bigger.
To put things into better perspective, here are some comparisons:
- The previous title Animal Crossing: New Leaf sold only 559,000 units in its first week, and a total of 4 million in its lifespan
- The highly anticipated Pokémon Sword and Shield sold 1.5 million copies in its first week in Japan.
