Anime-Inspired Brawler Aeon Must Die! Revealed, But Quickly Hit With Allegations Of Crunch And Abuse

Focus Home Interactive and Limestone Games have revealed that an all-new beat’em-up experience would soon be wowing audiences on modern consoles…although not without controversy.

Namely, the publisher and developer announced today that Aeon Must Die! would be heading to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in 2021. As seen in the beautiful trailer below, the game will see players in side-scrolling brawler combat with a raging hero/villain vying for control over a single body – and features some pretty top-notch animations overall:

Sadly, things don’t look quite so peachy under the hood of this game’s supposed development. Apparently, the game’s developers from Limestone Games have all walked away from the project following alleged abuses stemming from heavy crunch and late payments – and this trailer itself was also reportedly crafted from outsourced artists working without contracts. These allegations emerged from one of the supposed developers of the game on Twitter:

“All Aeon Must Die! devs quit the studio this week due to crunch and lack of payments, and the trailer was outsourced to artists without contracts.

This trailer was created with abuse, manipulation, theft.

Find out the truth about the development of this game here.

People who have worked on every shot of this are no longer with the company holding IP rights.

Some were not even paid for their work.

This trailer has a pending conflict of IP.

The real IP for the game was stolen from the creators via foul play.

Final reaction of the publisher to this information remains to be seen.”

It’s not clear what will happen with the project from this point onward. We’ll report back if or when we hear further details about this situation in the near future – so stay tuned.
