Bethesda Had To Discuss With Nintendo On Fallout Shelter’s Free-To-Play Model

Being fairly new to the free-to-play model, Nintendo had a thing or two to learn about it. Especially when Bethesda were deciding to port the free-to-play Fallout Shelter onto the Nintendo Switch, there were no free-to-play games on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

According to an interview by Dualshockers, Bethesda’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication, Pete Hines, said that they had to communicate with Nintendo and understand how the model is going to work on the Nintendo Switch.

And keep in mind, we were working on Fallout Shelter for Nintendo Switch when there was no such thing as a free to play game on the Switch. So that’s a conversation that we had to have about how is this going to work? Where is this going to go? Honestly, it’s no different than that.
