BlazBlue Blames Conservative Regions For Lack Of Nipples On Male Characters

When BlazBlue finally hits the Nintendo Switch in May, fans might notice that the male characters in the game are conservatively dressed or have their nipples mysteriously removed

Speaking, to PC Gamer, BlazBlue director Toshimichi Mori explained the situation, which had to do with cultural issues in the conservative Asian region.

PC Gamer: I have kind of a weird question. Where are the guys’ nipples? Even Mario has nipples now.

Mori: I heard that overseas it wouldn’t be too well received, so we intentionally abstracted that [laughs]. I think in the US and Europe it’s more acceptable, but in Asia it’s not really… so we kind of fudged it, a little bit. I thought it was totally acceptable to have some form of expression of that. I guess that’s cultural.

PC Gamer: It just stuck out to me because last year there were all these jokes about Mario in Mario Odyssey having nipples. Everyone thought it was funny.

Mori: For the record, I am of the school of thought that it’s acceptable as a form of expression, but I noticed whenever they’d take some of the artwork that I do with the nipples, in Asia it gets erased.

Looks like every region has its own cultures to respect, that is why when BlazBlue gets released on 31 May 2018, let’s try to keep calm at males without nipples.
