It looks like amiibo collectors will soon have new reasons to dust off some of their collection this February!

Following yesterday’s new trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has also shared that both the Bowser and Bowser Jr. amiibo figures will be also have some compatibility with the game! In particular, scanning them will lead to “special activations” in the new Bowser’s Fury content.

In anticipation of this, Nintendo also stated that these two amiibo figures would be returning to select retailers soon.

Here’s the blurb from Nintendo’s press release:

“Two new amiibo figures will be launching alongside the game and available for purchase separately at select retailers. Both the new Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo will offer in-game enhancements for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Bowser and Bowser Jr. also have large roles to play in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and their amiibo figures, which will also be returning for purchase at select retailers, have special activations in Bowser’s Fury, too.”

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will be hitting Nintendo Switch on 12 February 2021.
