Chinese And Koreans Call To Boycott Pokemon After Creatures Inc. Posts Visit To Yasukuni Shrine

Creatures Inc., one of the owners of The Pokemon Company and the company responsible for designing and making Pokemon TCG cards, has got into hot soup.

On January 7, 2019, the official Creatures Inc Twitter account posted a photo of two employees visiting the Yasukuni shrine. The photos show the employees smiling happily at the shrine. Yasukuni shrine is a very controversial place as 14 war criminals are buried there alongside thousands of other Japanese who died in World War II.

After receiving immense backlash, Creatures Inc. quickly removed the tweet from their account, but it was too late as screenshots have been taken:

Making matters worse, Creatures Inc. did not apologize for the tweet, and neither have they reprimanded the employees who posted it. Many Koreans and Chinese are now calling for a boycott of the Pokemon brand, especially on Chinese social media site Weibo. Comments such as this have appeared on Twitter:
