Compile Heart Launches “Escape” Countdown Teaser Website

Compile Heart, a studio that produces visual novels under Idea Factory, has put out a cryptic follow up to their strange message on Twitter.

If you visit Compile Heart‘s official website, you will find that its been plastered over with a creepy overlay that continuously repeats the word “Escape” over and over again, with a logo at the bottom left corner that reads “Run Away Escape Game”. At the center of the screen is a video titled “Hiring a Psychic to Hear the Thoughts of a Dead Console.”. The overlay can only be removed by clicking “Exorcise” at the bottom.

You can check out the video for yourself below, along with some translations from Gematsu:

  • The video features a spirit medium asking questions to a console that’s claimed to be “dead”, although it angrily rejects this label
  • The console says it is still “working” for those who continue to use it.
  • When asked about the recent trend of micro-transactions, it said, “The money won’t go into my pocket, so I don’t care.”
  • When asked if there is a chance of the console reviving as a new console, it replied yes.
  • Asked how it felt when touched, since there was no other console that had a “touch” feature, the console said it felt special.
  • And finally, when asked why the console stopped doing “[redacted],” it replied, “Not my problem.”

Currently, there are a number of theories as to what this tease could be for. One of these is that its a tease for a sequel to Death end re;Quest, a game which features computer viruses and monsters that fit the tone of the teaser. We will continue to monitor the story and bring more details as they come.
