Doom Eternal PVP Invasion Mode Cancelled, Will Be Replaced With Single-Player Horde Mode

id Software has shared an important update regarding Doom Eternal‘s development.

In a statement shared via Twitter, id Software Executive Producer Marty Stratton has revealed that Doom Eternal‘s planned free Invasion Mode update has unfortunately been cancelled due to complications caused by “the pandemic and remote working”. Originally announced in 2018, this mode was a multiplayer take on Doom Eternal’s campaign, which would have allowed other players to play as demons “invading” a host player’s campaign.

Instead, the developers have decided to shift their focus towards creating a new single-player horde mode as a replacement for the cancelled invasion mode. That said, no further details were shared about when this new content will be releasing for the game.
