DOOM Eternal, the next DOOM title launching this year, will not have a traditional multiplayer mode that DOOM 2016 had.

Marty Stratto, executive producer for DOOM Eternal, said Battle Mode is DOOM Eternal’s primary multiplayer mode and there wouldn’t be any traditional multiplayer in DOOM Eternal. Here are his full words:

“No traditional multiplayer mode. Battle mode is our primary multiplayer mode. The cool thing about it is it’s ripped straight from Doom; it’s the combat players want and love. You’re familiar with the gameplay, playing as a slayer.”
