Famitsu has published their full launch sales data for Pokemon Sword And Shield in Japan.
According to their data, Pokemon Sword And Shield sold 1,364,544 retail copies over their first three days on sale in Japan. These numbers include download cards and physical copies of both versions of the game, as well as the Sword/Shield double pack. Digital sales are not included.
With these figures, Pokemon Sword And Shield have overthrown Super Smash Bros.Ultimate as the most successful opening week for a Switch title in Japan. By comparison, Super Smash Bros Ultimate sold around 1.23 million copies at launch according to Famitsu’s analysis.
As an added tidbit. Famitsu also revealed that both the Switch and Switch Lite received a boost in sales thanks to Pokemon Sword And Shield. Around 180,136 Switch and Switch Lite units were sold from November 11 to 17. According to sources, this is about the same as the boost provided by Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee on release, but slightly less than the one attributed to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
