Famitsu: Switch Crosses 20 Million Units Sold In Japan

Japanese magazine Famitsu has published their latest sales data for the Switch in Japan.

According to their data, the Switch has now sold over 20 million units (20,018,278 units) in Japan as of May 30th 2021. Out of these units, around 16.1 million were for the regular Switch (16,168,420 units), while 3.8 million were for the Switch Lite (3,849,858 units).

Famitsu also published updated figures for the Top 5 best selling Switch games in Japan based on physical sales. The list has largely remained unchanged from the previous, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons sitting at the top, followed by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokemon Sword And Shield:

  1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 6,778,146 units
  2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 4,285,272 units
  3. Pokemon Sword and Shield – 4,052,668 units
  4. Splatoon 2 – 3,868,221
  5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 3,844,200 units
