Furukawa: Nintendo Still Doesn’t Have A Plan To Fend Off Hostile Takeovers

During the 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, an investor raised an important question about hostile takeovers.

The investor said as Nintendo owns some of the most valuable IP in the world, the possibility of a hostile takeover happening isn’t zero. Hence they asked whether Nintendo had any defense plans or countermeasures to stop other companies from taking over the company.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company still doesn’t have a plan to fend off hostile takeovers, though they are closely working with experts inside and outside the company. This is the same response Furukawa gave a couple of months ago. The company continues to research on a plan to prevent such things from happening.
