GameCube Controller Trademarked In Japan Again

GameCube Controller Trademarked In Japan Again

Nintendo has issued four new pictures for the GameCube controller trademark in Japan this week.

The new trademarks show outlines of the GameCube controller front, back, and on the sides. The trademark application states that the purpose of the trademark is for controllers for video game consoles and smartphones, so it’s unlikely this is for a GameCube Classic Edition.

In addition, based on what was submitted to the Japanese trademark office, we can tell Nintendo is trying to protect the GameCube controller from bootlegs, at least in Japan.
