GTS Returns In Pokemon HOME After Absence From Recent Pokemon Games

Earlier this week, the Pokemon Company released some new details about Pokemon HOME, explaining its various functions and features.

One of these features is the Global Trading System (GTS), which allows players to specify Pokemon they wish to trade and receive, and then be automatically matched with other players whose trades meet those criteria. In Pokemon HOME, the Basic free plan allows players to deposit 1 Pokemon in the GTS at a time, while the Premium Plan allows players to deposit 3.

Although originally a staple of the mainline games since Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, the GTS was left out of the more recent Switch entries into the franchise (Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee, Pokemon Sword/Shield). Its return in Pokemon Home likely offers a great relief to Pokemon fans who were having trouble completing their Pokedex, as even the free version is much more effective than the link code trading system fans have been resorting to in GTS’ absence.

Pokemon HOME is scheduled to launch sometime in February 2020.
