Hackers Discover Cause Of Linux Battery Desync Issue In Nintendo Switch

This week, the Nintendo Switch homebrew community has made another major breakthrough – discovering the cause of the famous Linux battery desync issue.

In case you are unfamiliar with the battery desync issue, using Linux or any other homebrew applications powered by Linux on Nintendo Switch will mess with your console’s battery calibration. This will cause the Switch to randomly shut down when the battery percentages goes below 50%.

Fixing the issue is pretty simple – all the hackers have to do is to change a value set by Linux for a certain register status to the same value the Switch OS sets.

With the issue now resolved, things such as hardware acceleration for GameCube emulators and other features will soon become reality.
