Mario Kart World is set to be the largest Mario Kart game in scope with its open-world racing tournaments. However, several gameplay features from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have been cut from Mario Kart World. Here’s a list of some of the major features cut from the game.
Kart customization, which was first introduced in Mario Kart 7 and included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, has been removed from Mario Kart World.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you could freely select the types of body, wheels, and gliders for your kart. You can’t do that anymore in Mario Kart World, as you can only choose the type of kart you want.
Underwater driving, also introduced in Mario Kart 7 and included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, will not be making a comeback to Mario Kart World.
There are many courses that feature underwater sections you can drive through in both games. While you can still drive on water in Mario Kart World, it won’t be possible to drive in a lake or ocean anymore.
Underwater driving has always been controversial among Mario Kart fans, so depending on who you ask, they may or may not like this change.
Some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe courses featured anti-gravity driving, allowing racers to drive on slanted slopes and upside-down loops. This mechanic won’t be returning to Mario Kart World due to its open-world nature, wall driving, and new tricks.
At the time of writing, only two Battle Mode games have been confirmed for Mario Kart World – Balloon Battle and Coin Runners.
This would mean that Shine Thief, Bob-omb Blast, and Renegade Roundup will not be returning, unless they are added in a future update.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart 7, you could play as your Mii. This doesn’t seem to be the case for Mario Kart World, but Miis could possibly return in a future update.
