Hollow Knight: Silksong “Became Too Large And Unique To Stay A DLC,” More Details

Just recently, Team Cherry has revealed a full-scale sequel to Hollow Knight. Now, we give you more details regarding Hollow Knight: Silksong starring Hornet.

Apparently, Hornet’s newest adventure on a new land was initially planned out to be a DLC. However, as development continues, the game just “became too large and too unique to stay a DLC.” The three-man team at Team Cherry decided to go with it to bring a fresh world for fans to explore. Although that would mean fans would have to wait a bit longer.

Also, it is interesting to note that Team Cherry has specially chosen the Switch as the first current-gen console to debut Silksong alongside a PC release. Truly, Switch has been a great enabler to massively boost Hollow Knight’s sales.

Speaking of sales, Team Cherry revealed Hollow Knight has been bought by over 2.8 million fans. To thank fans, all 2,518 Backers will receive Hollow Knight: Silksong completely free. In addition, backers of the first game starting from $10 AUD may opt to receive the sequel on PC or Switch.

“But we also know that times change, and the Nintendo Switch is quickly becoming a common (and excellent) console to own. Because of that, any backer of the game from the $10AUD and above tiers can choose to receive their copy of Hollow Knight: Silksong free on either PC or Nintendo Switch, at launch. We’ll shoot out a simple survey as we get closer to release to find out which version you’d like to receive.

Higher tier backers who received multiple copies of Hollow Knight will also receive multiple copies of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the same rules apply as for Hollow Knight. You can elect for your primary copy on either Nintendo Switch or PC, with all additional copies as PC versions.”
