Nintendo has trademarked the name “Indie World” with the Japanese government this month.

Earlier in May, Nintendo introduced Indie World, a campaign that aims to promote indie games to Nintendo Switch owners in Japan. This is most likely the reason why Nintendo trademarked Indie World in Japan.
