iPhone X Pokemon GO Players Are Having A Hard Time Catching Legendaries

Many iPhone X owners have complained about having a hard time catch Legendary Pokemon such as Kyogre in Pokemon GO.

What’s the reason behind the complains? Due to the design of the iPhone X’s curved edge-to-edge screen, Niantic zoomed into the gameplay area where players throw their Poke Balls to capture Pokemon, cutting off the sides on the left and right of that space.

Due to the decrease in area, trainers playing on iPhone X have lesser space to throw a Curve Ball, which requires swiping outside the Pokemon hit box. This problem is further amplified when trying to catch large and further away Legendary Pokemon such as Ho-Oh, Groudon, and Kyogre. A Curve Ball increases the chances of catching Legendary Pokemon, which already have an extremely low catch rate.

iPhone X versus non-iPhone X model

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any workaround for this issue. AR+ Mode, which is supported on iPhone X, is said to be an “even buggier” experience. Now everyone has to hope Niantic looks into this issue an implements a fix for iPhone X users.
