Japan: Nintendo Delays Animal Crossing Switch Bundle Pre-Orders, Due To nCoV-2019 Outbreak Hindering Production

Earlier this year, Nintendo had revealed a beautiful new Switch bundle based on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Originally, the set was to go up for pre-order in Japan this weekend – but it looks like that will no longer be the case now.

Following its official statement that the nCoV-2019 coronavirus outbreak would delay Switch hardware production, the company has also confirmed that this delay would affect the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch bundle too. As such, the company will not be opening pre-orders in Japan on 8 February 2020 as originally planned – simply revising the date as ‘To be determined‘.

Here’s a rough translation below:

“Thank you for your patronage of our products.

The current outbreak of the new Coronavirus infection is expected to have an unavoidable impact on shipments of the”Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing Set”, which is produced in China for the Japanese domestic market.

We are sorry to inform you immediately after the announcement of the start of pre-orders, but we will postpone the pre-order start date of the”Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing Forest set” and the carrying case.

Pre-order start date: February 8, 2020 → To be determined

*The pre-order start date of the game and digital version will not change from February 8.

* The game’s release date has not been changed at this time.

We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers. We will notify you of the new pre-order start date.”

Thankfully, this situation will not delay the game itself. We’ll report back as we hear more in the future.
