The New Nintendo 3DS, released a few years ago, had one unique feature its brothers did not have – the ability to swap its top and bottom cover plates.
Cover Plates were released by Nintendo at the same time as the New Nintendo 3DS, which came with all sorts of designs and textures. Now that the 3DS is limping on its way out, retailers are having difficulties selling off their Cover Plates.
As a result, some retailers have resorted to selling one set of Cover Plates at 50 yen (USD0.45), a fraction of the 1500 yen to 2000 yen they used to command. So if you happen to be in Japan, you might want to visit Joshin locations in Osaka and other cities for some luck.
