Latest Katana ZERO Update Corrupts Switch Save Files, Fix May Take “A Few Days” To Go Live

The Switch version of Devolver Digital and Askiisoft’s hit indie game Katana ZERO has been hit by a game-breaking bug due to its latest update going live too early.

The bug was discovered a few hours ago when Katana ZERO‘s latest Switch update went live ahead of schedule. Developer Askiisoft tweeted a warning to Switch owners not to update, as it would corrupt their save data. Luckily, the corruption does not delete the save, and it can be recovered as long as players do not choose the “reset” option.

Later, Askiisoft tweeted an update on the situation explaining that they had fixed the bug on their end. However, the patch might take “a few days” before it goes into effect. Once it does, players would be able to resume where they left off on their original save files.

Furthermore, for players who may have accidentally deleted their save file without knowing the full details, a cheat code will be implemented along with the fix. The code will allow them to instantly beat the game in order to recover lost progress.

Those who own Katana ZERO on Switch may want to hold off on updating the game until the fix is released. We will be sure to bring further updates on the status of the patch as they come.
