A Look Into The Origins Of Nintendo Labo’s Name

When Nintendo first revealed Labo to the world, many wondered how its name came about and whether it was derived from the word “laboratory”.

Turns out most people were half… right. According to the peeps at Legends of Localization, Labo is derived from the French word “laboratoire”. The word has been used in many products and services in Japan to give off high class and international vibes.

Not only has Labo been spotted in restaurants, English schools, and skin care, but even in Earthbound as well. The Japanese release of Earthbound called labs “Labo”.
