Nintendo’s Wind Waker is a game that definitely stood the test of time from gameplay to art direction and it is natural that other developers want to learn a thing or two from it.
The upcoming Adventure Time game by Climax Studios did just thing. They took Winda Waker as a reference to better improve their open sea exploration feel. Speaking to Well Played, Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion’s Associate Producer Orcun Adsoy said:
Well Played: Now the game itself looks like an open-world adventure game/RPG, is that about right? Not much has been shown yet but I’m already getting a Wind Waker kinda vibe…
Orcun Adsoy: Wind Waker was definitely a solid frame of reference when we were looking at how the boat would function and feel on the open sea. I’d like to tell you more, but the guys at Outright are getting ready to show you the world in a far more interesting way than I could.
Good games have good things to learn from each other, and hopefully when Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion releases for the Nintendo Switch tomorrow, 24 April 2018, it will be a great game for everyone.
