[UPDATE] Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Receives Details On First DLC Pack And Free Updates

Earlier today during Marvel Games’ panel at San-Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), we received the first details for the first DLC Pack for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, along with a few other surprise character reveals.

To start off, it was officially revealed that Loki was a part of the game’s base roster, a fact that was previously discovered by players with early copies of the game. However, the panel did not discuss the other hidden character in the game, presumably to at least try to keep it a surprise for a while longer.

Next, the panel went into some post-launch support for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, starting with a free update that would add X-Men Cyclops and Colossus to the base game. Both characters are currently NPCs in the base game, but will be promoted to playable status for free starting August 30th. It is unknown whether other NPCs (e.g. Vision, Ant-Man) in the game will also be getting the same treatment moving forward.

Finally, the contents of the first DLC Pack in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3‘s Expansion Pass were revealed. The pack is themed after the Marvel Knights, and will contain four new characters: Blade, Moon Knight, Punisher and Morbius. This presumably confirms that the DLC pack themes will follow the order in which they were presented during the original announcement, with the next pack being X-Men and the final pack being Fantastic Four. We will bring more details as they come.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be launching July 19th, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

UPDATE: Nintendo has released an official PR Email for these announcements, which confirm that in addition to the Cyclops and Colossus update, free alternate costumes will be released for all playable characters all the way up to 2020. You can check out the full details below.

For the first time in the series, Loki joins the alliance as a playable character in the MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order game, according to information revealed at the Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con today. The game also will be getting free updates, as well as a series of paid DLC packs. These revelations were made just hours before the July 19 launch of the Nintendo Switch game.

The panel announced that new playable characters Cyclops and Colossus would arrive as part of a free update to the game on Aug. 30, followed by a series of alternate outfits for all of the playable characters in the game after launch through Q1 of 2020.

With the paid Expansion Pass for $19.99, players get access to three exclusive DLC packs as they release. These packs, which won’t be available for individual purchase, will include story content and playable characters from popular franchises like the Fantastic Four, X-Men and Marvel Knights. The first paid DLC pack is due to arrive sometime this fall and will add Moon Knight, Blade, Punisher and Morbius to the playable roster of characters. Details about the two additional paid DLC packs will be announced in the future.
