The three owners of The Pokemon Company, namely Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and Game Freak, have registered a trademark for Melmetal in Japan.

The Melmetal trademark covers video games, jewellery, clothing, and other types of products. This is a way for The Pokemon Company to protect Melmetal from copyright theft.
