Metroid Prime 4 Developer Retro Studios Hires Dreamworks Lighting Artist

As previously reported, Retro Studios has been on a hiring spree to bolster its numbers – primarily to support their development of Metroid Prime 4 for Switch. While we still don’t know much about the company’s progress on the title, it looks like another talented individual has joined their ranks!

As at the time of writing, a glance at LinkedIn reveals that Lighting and Compositing Artist Chad Orr has been hired as a Senior Lighting Artist at Retro Studios since April 2021. Orr’s resume is certainly nothing to scoff at – his past roles include being a Lighting Artist at Dreamworks Animation (How to Train Your Dragon 3, The Croods: A New Age), Sony Santa Monica (God of War 4), and even Disney (Moana, Zootopia).

To date, Retro has hired folks from a wide range of backgrounds and talents – ranging from a Halo series character modeler and several VFX artists who previously worked on Battlefield, Tomb Raider, and Borderlands. Hopefully we’ll see some of the fruits of their labor eventually!

We’ll report back as we hear more in the future. Stay tuned.
