Back in December 2019, Mojang released Minecraft Earth, an augmented reality game for smartphones that allowed players to craft structures and fight monsters in the real world, similar to the ever popular Pokemon GO.

Today, barely a year after its global release, Mojang has announced they will be shutting down Minecraft Earth later this year on June 30th. In light of this, the developers have released one final update to the title that changes the following:

Removing real-money transactions
Drastically reducing ruby costs
Including all completed, unreleased content currently in our pipeline
Reducing time requirements for crafting and smelting
Replacing unused crafting & smelting boosts with radius boosts of the same level
Granting a set of Character Creator items to players who sign in between January 5 and June 30

In addition, all players who purchased premium currency for Minecraft Earth will receive a free copy of the Bedrock Edition of regular Minecraft. Any outstanding premium currency they own will also be converted into Minecoins to be used on the Minecraft Marketplace.
