Mistake In Nintendo Switch Version 7.0.0 Patch Notes Triggers Huge Argument In China

Yesterday, Nintendo released the version 7.0.0 update for all Nintendo Switch systems worldwide.

One of the most major improvements in the update is the long awaited Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean support for the Home Menu. There was, however, a problem.

On the official patch notes, Nintendo wrote three new languages have been added to the Home Menu – “Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese”.

Taiwanese is not a written language, and Taiwan is a very serious geopolitical issue in mainland China. The patch notes stirred a huge storm on Chinese social media network Weibo, as some believed Nintendo of America doesn’t recognize the one China policy.

Fortunately, the mistake was soon corrected to “Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional)”:
