Nearly 200 Animation Cels From The Super Mario Bros. Super Show And SMB3 Cartoon Have Been Unearthed

30 years ago, Mario and Luigi were at the zenith of their worldwide fame. Unsurprisingly, they would get their own television spin-offs in the form of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show (1989) and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 (1990) cartoon. These days, the two shows are fairly lost to time (save for some enduring memes) – but a recent discovery might bring back a rush of memories for many older fans.

@max6464646464, a self-professed collector, has apparently obtained almost 200 animation cels and sketches from both series! These transparent sheets were crucial for animating the frames of both cartoons in the past – but were thought to be lost for decades. You can check some of them out below for yourself.

Talk about hitting the jackpot! This is definitely a true treasure for any Mario fan to witness, and it’s good to see that some semblance of the show’s history will stay preserved for time to come.
