New Metroid Fusion Speed Run Record Set With Help Of Newly Discovered Exploit

A new record has been set for the fastest “any percentage” completion of 2002’s GBA Metroid Fusion with the final clock time of 50 minutes and 34 seconds.

The Speed run, by JRP2234, was accomplished with the help of a newly discovered exploit which allowed players to corrupt the save file by placing powerbombs in the out-of-bounds area. The corrupted save file will think that the player had already defeated one of the bosses, allowing the player to skip over it.

The exploit reduces the amount of time required to complete the game dramatically as the previous none exploit record was 1 hour 12 minutes 52 seconds. The reduction in timing was so dramatic that the community had to make an exploit free record list as it was almost impossible to beat JRP2234‘s record without the exploit.

You can take a look speed run below.
