Earlier this week, Nintendo Co. Ltd. had released an official statement confirming that the recent 2019 coronavirus outbreak had put a damper on Switch console production for the Japanese market. With some folks concerned that the same would ring true worldwide, One of Nintendo’s western branches has stepped in to clarify the situation.
In a recent statement to Kotaku, Nintendo of America assured that the disease would not impact their broader global supply of Switch products. As such, the company does not expect to see any issues with its product sales and pre-orders in USA or Europe:
“We can confirm that the manufacturing of some Nintendo products for the Japanese market has been delayed due to the impact of 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak. Nintendo does not anticipate a significant impact on our broader global supply chain for systems and accessories at this time, and product sales in North America and Europe, including preorders, are not affected. We would like to express our concern and support for all those affected by the coronavirus during this challenging time.”
At the very least, it looks like Nintendo fans in the west shouldn’t face any issues in grabbing the console and its games for now. We’ll report back whenever we get further updates on the situation.
