Nintendo Awarded $12 Million From Pirated ROMs Lawsuit

Previously, we reported that Nintendo was hunting down some websites offering pirated ROMs of their games.

Today, it seems like the Japanese giant made some headway in its battle against piracy. According to a recent court ruling, the operators of LoveROMS have agreed to a $12 million settlement toward Nintendo. Check out the legal document below.

Additionally, a permanent injunction will require the websites’ operators to sign over ownership of LoveROMS to Nintendo. This would essentially limit their ability to pirate games in the future.

Talk about a serious penalty and deterrent! Nintendo definitely isn’t playing nice with emulation sites anymore.
