Nintendo Considering Expanding Switch Online Games Library Beyond NES

During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting Of Shareholders, the company answered some questions regarding the Switch Online game library and whether there were plans to bring back retro titles for consoles other than the NES.

Specifically, Nintendo was asked if they were considering “re-releasing software for the N64 and Gamecube”. In response, the company stated that while they don’t have any new information to share at the moment, they are indeed considering expansions to the Switch Online library as well as other options for retro re-releases.

“At this place we cannot tell new information about future classic hardware among others, but we are thinking about providing an extension of the online service which is currently providing Famicom [NES] software, as well as other methods of providing them. We also recognise that there are opinions wanting to play past titles.”
