During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, an investor asked whether Nintendo was considering to add 4G or 5G support to their consoles in the future.

Nintendo senior director Ko Shiota said as Nintendo is always monitoring industry trends and new technology, the company is keeping a close eye at 5G. Shiota said that one concern Nintendo has about 5G, a way to transfer large data, is its high cost. As 5G is very costly for consumers to use at this time, it would be hard for Nintendo to add 5G support.

That said, Nintendo is always looking for ways to use new technology such as 5G to offer new services and gameplay experiences. Everything about 5G is under consideration, and they will continue to closely monitor its pricing in the future.
