Nintendo Erases The Wii, DS and Wii U Pages From Official Website

Nintendo of America’s website is cutting consoles but there are still some relics.

Starting today, all of the pages that contained information on the Wii and DS, along with their digital game services (WiiWare and DSiWare) have been removed from the official website.

As for the official Wii U landing page? You’ll be seeing an error message instead. Games for the Wii U are still available but will likely disappear once the eShop server for the Wii U is gone.

The Nintendo Switch and 3DS/2DS pages are still here so they’re heavily implied to be where Nintendo’s support lies.  Nintendo is likely clearing out sections of its website that are not relevant any more. So it could be part of website maintenance that comes in cycles.

The Relics

There are still the official assistance articles that include these erased systems. These pages are more likely to persist given that the pages still exist for all of Nintendo’s retro systems dating as far back as the NES and Game Boy.

If the Virtual Boy support page is still there, systems like the DS that have successors will probably have a support page around for a while.
