Nintendo Files For IC Tag Related Toy Patent In Japan

Nintendo has filed for a rather interesting new trademark related to toys in Japan.

The Toy patent specifically relates to a mechanism for “preventing damage to an IC tag even when the outer surface is made of a relatively soft material”, achieved by a “reinforced area offering protection to the IC tag inside the toy”. It is believed that this patent is specifically related to the Yarn Yoshi amiibo that was released in 2015, due to the toy’s nature perfectly fitting the patent’s purpose. If you’re interested in learning more, the full application can be found here.
