Nintendo Files Lawsuit Against ‘Team Xecuter’ Member Gary Bowser For Switch Hacks

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Gary Bowser, a member of the Switch hacking group “Team Xecuter” who was arrested last year.

Bowser was one of two Team Xecuter members who were arrested on felony charges last year, the other being Max Louarn, who is reportedly still awaiting extradition from Canada. The lawsuit filed against Bowser alleges that he “infringed on Nintendo’s copyright” by developing and selling Team Xecuter’s hacks, which allow buyers to “circumvent the company’s security measures” to play pirated Nintendo Switch games.

Through this lawsuit, Nintendo is seeking to obtain damages of $2,500 for each hacking device sold and $150,000 for every copyright Bowser violated. Naturally, the company is also seeking to shutdown Bowser’s operations for good.

The full lawsuit document can be found here, via Polygon.
