Nintendo Overclocks Breath Of The Wild And Super Mario Odyssey In VR Update

This week, Nintendo updated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey to play in VR (Virtual Reality) mode with the Toy-Con VR Goggles.

Besides VR mode, hackers have found that Nintendo has overclocked the CPU when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey run on Nintendo Switch. According to ZachyCatGames, both games increase their CPU speed from 1.0GHz to 1.7GHz during the loading screens of both games, so some believe this is how Nintendo was able to reduce the loading time for both titles.

All this was made possible thanks to Nintendo Switch firmware update 8.0.0, where the company officially introduced a 1.7GHz CPU speed called “boost mode”, a speed that essentially overclocks the CPU.
