Nintendo Silences Two Prominent Leakers After Pokemon Sword And Shield Leaks

In the last few months, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company had come down on hard on a few leakers that had heavily damaged the company’s marketing strategy.

First they came down hard on those who leaked pictures from the unreleased Pokemon Sword and Shield strategy guidebook.

Then came a reviewer from Portuguese fansite FNintendo, who had access to a review copy of Pokemon Sword and Shield. The reviewer leaked screenshots from the game before its release, and as a result, FNintendo is no longer allowed to receive review copies or any other press material.

Besides these leakers, Nintendo had also pressured two other high-profile leakers, Sabi and Zippo, to stop leaking their trade secrets. Sabi, who leaked the contents of an Indie World presentation and many other unannounced games, received a phone call in June 2019 and was warned not to leak anymore trade secrets, though he didn’t stop until February 2020, where he told those on Discord he would stop leaking and focus on journalism. The same goes for Zippo, who has sworn off from Nintendo leaks.

Nintendo’s actions have been applauded by many fans across the globe, as they could look forward to getting surprised by the company’s official announcements.
