Nintendo Switch Facing Shortages In Japan Possibly Due To nCoV-2019 Outbreak

It’s been two years since we have last heard of a Nintendo Switch shortage in Japan, but now, it has returned.

As of February 3, 2020, Nintendo Switch systems have completely sold out on Amazon Japan, Rakuten Books, and 7-Net. Other major retailers such as Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera still have the systems in stock, though stock could quickly dry up in the coming days.

As there wasn’t any major title released in the last 2 weeks, there’s only one explanation – we could now be seeing the first effects of the nCoV-2019 coronavirus outbreak on the availability of the Nintendo Switch in Japan. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed last week that the virus will have a negative impact on production.
