Nintendo Switch Firmware 7.0.0 Causes Issues With Game Sharing

In the latest Nintendo Switch Firemware 7.0.0, issues with game sharing have now been discovered which cause your game to crash!

When the system checks for a software license every 3 hours (like it normally did without issues before the update), this will now cause your software to crash after the validation process is made.

Usually the Nintendo Switch allows you to continue with your game after the check but now it ends up with this error which could lead to users losing their saves!

Check out a Reddit users experience with this:

Ok, so I’ve had my Switch for a couple of months now and have been game sharing with my brother for a while. Everything worked fine as described below:

– His Switch is set up as my account’s main console;

– When I played a game I bought with my account on my Switch, it checked if I have a valid license everytime I opened a game and Nintendo allowed me to stay offline for 3 hours until it checked again.

However, since the last update, when I try to resume a game after the 3 hour period is over, my Switch checks for a valid license and then closes the game displaying the following error:

“The software was closed because an error occurred”

Not very helpful, right? Anyway, this has been happening consistently on my Switch and a friend of mine verified that it also happened on his.

Hopefully Nintendo is on the case of this and it will be patched in the next firmware update as it could be very serious with people losing or getting their saves corrupted.

If we have any more information to share we will cover it here at NintendoSoup so stay tuned for more!
