Nintendo Switch Returns To The Top Of The Hardware Charts In Japan

For nearly a month, PS4 hardware sales dominated Japan for 4 consecutive weeks, thanks to the launch of Monster Hunter World.

As the Monster Hunter World effect has diminished last week , Nintendo Switch hardware sales have once again returned to the throne in Japan. 39,696 Switch consoles were sold in Japan last week, as compared to 29,392 PS4 machines.

While Monster Hunter World is still reigning the software charts as the highest selling software last week, Nintendo Switch games such as Splatoon 2 (5th place/19,501 copies), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (6th place/17,259 copies), and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (7th place/12,252 copies) have continued to maintain long tail sales momentum.

Bayonetta 2, which launched in Japan 2 weeks ago, moved 5,443 copies last week, ranking as the 14th bestseller on the software charts. The Bayonetta Non-Stop Climax dropped off the charts last week, as there were no longer anymore reprints.
