Nintendo Switch Was Bestselling Console In France In 2018

Nintendo France, an official subisidiary of Nintendo of Europe, has revealed how they performed in France in 2018.

Back in 2017, Nintendo France aimed to sell 2 million consoles (both Switch and 3DS) by the end of 2018. In the span of two years, they have managed to hit this goal by selling 2.04 million consoles. 1.13 million were sold in 2018 and the remaining 911,000 were from 2017.

The company also confirmed that Nintendo Switch was the bestselling console in France in 2018, and holiday sales in 2018 were comparable to the Wii era where hundreds of thousands of products were sold.

Nintendo 3DS sales in France dropped by 50% on a year-on-year basis – 254,000 consoles were sold in 2018, as compared to 507,000 in 2017. Lifetime sales now stand at 5.5 million.

Now a look at the bestselling games of 2018. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the No. 3 bestselling game in France, just below FIFA 19 and Red Dead Redemption 2. The game moved 700,000 copies in 2018, more than the 500,000 units in 2017.

Following closely behind are Super Mario Party (No. 5), Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee (No. 7), Super Mario Odyssey (No. 8), and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (No. 9). Keep in mind these numbers are retail only and do not factor digital sales.

Last but not least, Nintendo expects to sell even more consoles and games in France in 2019.
