NPD: 28% Active Pokemon GO Players Are Planning To Buy Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee

EEDAR, an NPD group company, has published a report detailing the connection between Pokemon GO and Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee in the United States.

According to EEDAR’s research, over 70% of mobile players in the United States are aware of Pokemon GO, and 29% have actively played the game. That equates to about 55 million people in the US who have played Pokemon GO at least once.

Now here’s where things get interesting. EEDAR says 24% of active Pokemon GO players also own and play Nintendo Switch. 65% of this particular group have indicated they are planning to purchase a copy of Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee. That’s about 15% of the entire active Pokemon GO population in the states.

On top of that, more than 13% of active Pokemon GO players who do not own a Nintendo Switch are planning to buy a Nintendo Switch for Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee. In total, that’s 28% of the active Pokemon GO player base, or 15.4 million people.

Based on the data we have received, we now understand the reason why Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee was developed – to bring Pokemon GO players on board the Switch. And the report just proves Nintendo’s strategy is working.
