Square Enix has announced Octopath Traveler, one of their biggest Nintendo Switch exclusives, has sold over 1.5 million copies physically and digitally worldwide as of March 7, 2019.

This announcement comes as the company announced a new smartphone game in the Octopath Traveler series, and reassured fans the next console entry is still in the works but they’ll need more time to make it happen.

We knew that Octopath Traveler sold about 1 million copies in the west in 2018, and about 500,000 copies were sold in Japan in 2018. This means sales have definitely slowed down everywhere in 2019, which is natural.
