While Octopath Traveler’s HD Rumble was not too shabby, the developers at Square Enix originally had bigger ambitions about utilising the Nintendo’s Switch HD Rumble system better.
Speaking to Nintendo Dream, game Producer, Tomoya Asano, said that they originally tried the HD Rumble on a variety of unique situations, even simulating footsteps. However, the team thought that the use HD Rumble in a lot these situations will negatively impact the game’s experience, therefore, they were removed from the final game.
Nintendo Switch’s HD Rumble is an awesome Rumble system when utilised well. Hopefully, more developers will experiment with it just like Square Enix did.
